Chris is an experienced independent specialist employment law solicitor with over fifteen years’ experience of advising both employers and employees. Chris is primarily instructed by SMEs, law firms and accountancy firms and individuals. We work exclusively on employment matters and you will not find us ‘moonlighting’ in other areas of law. We know your problems require the focus of expert assistance and representation that we can provide.

In 2019 the SRA allowed solicitors for the first time to practise on their own without being part of a traditional law firm. Freelance/independent solicitors are members of the Law Society, hold a practising certificate, and are subject to upholding their professional code by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We also have full professional indemnity insurance cover of £1million.

The advantage of instructing a freelance solicitor is that we do not have the vast overheads of a traditional law firm of: offices, rent, business rates, utility bills, wage bills etc. We then pass that saving onto you as the client. You receive partner level advice for the costs of a trainee which is value for money. We do not charge VAT.

Operating as an independent solicitor means that we do not hide behind receptionists, secretaries, or other members of staff. You deal directly with the solicitor and you have round the clock direct access. As we want your work, we telephone you back and respond to your emails efficiently. You benefit from us travelling to meet you and we are not restricted by the traditional office hours of 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Correspondence is often received from employers with short notice, such as a Friday evening. We are on call to assist at short notice so you do not spend the whole weekend worrying unnecessarily.

One of the biggest complaints about traditional solicitors’ firms is delay. You will be pleased to know that we can usually start working on your case immediately and provide advice on the day you instruct us. We are not waiting on a backlog of files to be opened or assistants to type up letters. We also offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation for all new clients.

We operate from East Lincolnshire but we have clients across the country. For example, we have clients in London, Birmingham and the South East. Clients based in London have been particularly delighted with our services because we represent great value compared to London weighted solicitors’ fees. The pandemic has shown that people are more familiar now than ever before with remote/agile working and we are happy to hold meetings by video conferencing on Zoom or Microsoft Teams, or simply by telephone. We have access to meeting rooms for face to face meetings or we are happy to meet at your premises or even your favourite coffee shop.

We are experts in employment law and so we do not dabble in other areas of law. We do however have access to a network of similar experts in other fields of law who we are happy to recommend.
